Jan 30-April 16: The VITA Project is offering free tax assistance

If you are a Yale employee with a household income of under $50,000 in 2011, IRS-certified volunteers with the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Project will help you to prepare your state and federal income taxes for free.  Volunteers speak Spanish, French, and Mandarin Chinese, too!

Hours:  January 30 - April 16, 2012 from 5-7:30 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays; 1-4:30 p.m., Fridays
Location:  New Haven Free Public Library, 133 Elm Street

Walk-ins are welcome---no appointment is necessary. 

Please bring:

  • All tax forms (e.g., W-2s, 1099s)
  • Original Social Security cards or ITINs for everyone being claimed
  • Photo ID
  • Bank account information for direct deposit (if available)
  • Last year's tax return (if available)
