Outdoor Education Center is a summer deal for Yale families

Looking for summer fun close to home and at a reasonable price? Yale faculty, staff, students and their families can swim, boat and picnic at the beautiful Yale Outdoor Education Center (OEC), the University's recreation complex in East Lyme. Open daily from June 24, 2011, through Labor Day, the OEC is located on 1,500 woodland acres on the shore of a pristine, mile-long lake.

The OEC offers the following recreational activities and services:

• Picnic grove - tables and grills available free of charge
• Rowboats, kayaks and canoes – available free of charge
• Lifeguards and instructors – on duty daily
• Lakeside cabins – members may rent by the week
• Woodland campsites, individual and group – members may rent by the week or weekend
• Gazebo, dining hall and pavilion – anyone may rent; suitable for department picnics, family reunions and weddings

Visit the OEC for a day, weekend or the entire season:

• Day-use passes:  $6 adults, $3 children age 6-12, family $20* (available daily at the OEC). Family day passes are available for parents and dependent children only.

• Seasonal memberships:  Faculty/staff (individual $80, family $125); students ($50 individual, $100 family); alumni (individual $150; family $190). Family memberships are available for parents and dependent children only. Memberships are available at the OEC office, 5th floor, Payne Whitney Gym, 70 Tower Pkwy, New Haven.
