Week of Dec. 5: Trumbull Street becomes one way between Orange St. and Whitney Ave.

Effective the week of 12/05/11, Trumbull Street will become one way inbound or westbound between Orange Street and Whitney Avenue until the summer of 2012. This change could take effect as early as Monday, the 5th, or it could be delayed into the week. 

If you normally travel north on Whitney and then turn right onto Trumbull Street to access the entrance ramps for I-91, you will no longer be able to do this. The City of New Haven will be posting detour signs, but this message will allow you to plan a new route before the actual interruption takes place. 

Some suggested options are:

• Travel north on Whitney Avenue; take a right onto Humphrey Street; take a right onto Orange Street and then turn left onto the ramps for I-91 N or S.
• Travel south on Temple Street; take a left onto Elm Street; take a left onto State Street and then drive up the I-91 northbound only ramp.
• Travel south on Temple Street; take a left onto Wall Street; take a left onto Orange Street and then turn right onto the ramps for I-91 N or S.
• Customize your own route based on traffic volume, time of day, etc.
